What Is the Befriend Event?
A One-Day Journey with a Virtual Prelude
Virtual Intro on Friday + One-Day In-Person Event on Saturday
(9:00 am – 4:30 pm)
The Befriend Event is the third part of The Behold Experience—a two-part journey designed to deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit. It begins with a short virtual Friday evening session and reflection exercise to prepare your heart, followed by a one-day in-person gathering on Saturday. Through teaching, group discussions, and practical workshops, you’ll learn to lean on the Spirit for guidance, strength, and growth, while discovering how to trust God more fully, nurture healthy relationships, and steward your time, talents, and resources for His glory.
How It Works
Part One: Virtual Kickoff (Friday Evening)
-
Meg will share a video teaching that revisits the heart of the Behold Event (God the Father) and the Believe Event (Jesus as King), showing why these truths matter as we prepare to Befriend the Spirit. This isn’t a simple recap—it’s a reminder of the foundation we’ve already built together, grounding us in God’s character and Christ’s kingship so we can enter Saturday ready to encounter the Spirit with fresh expectation.
-
Homework: Complete the Heart Restoration reflection by Melanie Bedogne, before attending the Saturday event.
Part Two: In-Person Event
(Saturday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm)
-
We’ll step into the stories of the Spirit’s arrival in Acts, learning how the early church leaned on His power and presence. This equipping session will anchor us in Scripture and invite us to see how the Spirit still works today.
-
The Holy Spirit Is — Spend 30 minutes reflecting on the Spirit’s character, creating a list of attributes, and circling your top five. These anonymous reflections will be collected at lunch.
-
Break into small groups to walk through real-life scenarios. Each table will be given one of five:
Spiritual Care (prayer and rhythms with God)
Relationship Care (trust and reconciliation with others)
Temple Care (listening to the needs of body and soul)
Treasure Care (stewardship of resources)
Talent Care (using gifts to bear fruit)
Each story highlights a woman who is struggling in her walk. Your group will listen, ask good questions, and discern how to come alongside her with compassion and wisdom.
-
This time is set aside for rest, journaling, or quiet reflection. You can find a quiet corner, walk outside, stretch, or pray with a friend.
-
As we close, we’ll return to Scripture (Romans 8, Colossians, and more) to see how the Spirit works in our daily lives. In small groups, we’ll revisit our Table Talk discussions and reflect on how the Spirit is inviting us to live differently.
